Ranchlands’ President’s Message for October

Fall is really here! Now that we are into the meteorological and astronomical fall/autumn season, we have water restrictions (hopefully) behind us. What are you going to do with your extra one hour on Sunday, November 3 when our clocks turn back one hour? I invite you to come and spend it with your neighbours at our Annual General Meeting (AGM). Our meeting will take place at 1:00 pm at the community hall. While hanging out with your neighbours and your RCA board should be incentive enough, we will have door prizes and snacks to ensure that all who attend will know that they make a valuable contribution to the community. You are needed to help elect the Board of Directors, approve financial documents (budgets and audited financial statements), and adopt proposed bylaw changes. Unfortunately, we did not get a quorum of people for our Special General Meeting on September 4, 2024 to discuss the proposed bylaw changes so this will be an agenda item at the AGM in November.

Elections will take place at the AGM and all positions are available for people to put their name forward. There is a section on the RCA website that outlines the duties of each position, that can be found here: https://ranchlandscommunity.com/volunteer-with-the-rca/. We welcome everyone who wishes to contribute to the wellbeing of Ranchlands, both formally and informally.

Events – I recommend you follow our Facebook page and check in on our website. Events that are planned, upcoming, or proposed will be posted about to keep you up to date on what is happening. There are many great initiatives, and we hope to be able to help or deliver as our finances and volunteer capacity allow.

Rentals – We have recently finalized some long-term rental contracts which contribute to our sustainability and ability to consider programs. Our short-term or one-time rentals continue to grow also. As always, for your own personal events, or for others you know, please consider our RCA space for your needs. We are always available to schedule a walk-through to ensure our space meets the needs of our community residents and other partners.

As always, I thank you for continuing to support our community, our Food Pantry program, and for providing ideas and input to keep us strong.
