What is a Community Association?

It’s a volunteer-led organization that is passionate about the community and its people. It operates facilities, advocates on behalf of community members, liaises with the city, and provides local programming and events to its residents.

Most communities in Calgary have a community association, and all are volunteer led. Here in Tuxedo Park, we operate a hall for programming, events, and rentals on 202 29 Avenue NE. We have active social committee volunteers who organize events like our Canada Day and Santa Breakfasts, and who develop other programming for the community to enjoy, like this fall’s Rise Up Pop Up performances. We also have members who show their passion for Tuxedo Park by volunteering for committees focused on planning, mobility, crime prevention, and community engagement.

Many of the great things in Tuxedo Park are a direct result of residents getting together through the community association. There’s no experience necessary and anyone can join, including renters and business owners. If you’re interested and want to learn more, please come to one of our board meetings (held on the second Thursday of every month) or reach out to me anytime at [email protected]! Meetings are currently held virtually. Please email [email protected] for the virtual meeting invitation.

Physical Distanced Events Update

With ongoing restrictions, our social team is working hard to keep our events going, even if reimagined for social distancing. If you’re interested in helping out, check out their recurring meetings on the last Monday of every month and follow us on social media. Please email [email protected] for the meeting invitation.

Wishing you all a wonderful month ahead!
