Fairview Volunteer Opportunities

Board Members – Do you want to make a difference in your community? Serving on our volunteer Board of Directors helps you learn new skills, work as part of a team, give back to your community, develop leadership skills, meet your neighbours, and have fun! We are currently recruiting for President, Secretary and General Board members. Time commitment to a monthly meeting and participation in community events (when able) is all that is required! April Membership Drive – No driving experience required! Get a little exercise, meet your neighbours, and help your community. Our popular Membership Drive takes place in early to mid-April each year. Canvassers on each street are needed for a 1-to-3-hour commitment to sell community memberships door-to-door. Spring Fling — Early May of each year and one of our most successful events. We need many helpers to make this a success:
• Traffic directors (two people at any given time)
• Truck drivers and helpers for household pickups
• Concession staff (TBD)
• Membership seller and pickups director
• Waste “flingersâ€
• Cleanup crew (push brooms appreciated!)
Bottle Drive Bag Distribution – Week in May (prior to the drive) – we need as many people as we can get to help deliver garbage bags/leaflets door-to-door in mailboxes for our Bottle Drive. The distribution of bags is critical to the success of the bottle drive! This is a super-easy job and can be done quickly with extra helpers (each person can typically do about two houses per minute). If you can do a route (one to three streets) in your area, please let us know!
Bottle Drive – Usually held in May. We have many jobs on this day including Bottle loaders, cleanup crew, and Door to door pickups – we need volunteers with trucks/vans to drive and helpers to load vehicles. Each driver will get a route of about three to five streets. Free truck wash included if you use your vehicle! Bottle loader – need a few people to help load refundables into the delivery truck. Also concession volunteers to cook BBQ lunch for our awesome volunteers (all supplies provided).
Planning and Development – Fairview has lots of exciting development on the horizon – both in our residential and formerly industrial areas. Do you have expertise to help usher in and guide this evolution? Contact [email protected] to get involved.
