On July 20 we hosted an event to showcase the painting of the sea can. Our Calgary weather delayed painting due to rain and then heat, but Tough Painting finished in the nick of time for our event! Many thanks to Alastair and his crew; Mercedes and Michaela. Those lines are somehow so straight!
Around 80 people attended with so many kids getting their faces painted.
We had a seed swap, which also included some plants, and was a huge success. Alberta Native Plant Rescue and the Friends of Fish Creek came to visit and share. Thank you to Helene for setting that up for us (you may have seen our interview in the July edition of Fairview in Focus).
We did have a last-minute glitch, and our scheduled ice cream truck couldn’t make it, but a huge thank you to Wayne McNeely for calling in calgaryicecreamtruck.com. We definitely needed it with the heat of the day. It became ever more apparent that the park needs shade to be used comfortably and safely. Definitely some food for thought for whoever will be working on the Fairview Park in the future.
In the next year we are looking into getting a secure outdoor box with a code for the community to access the games at their leisure.
