Hello Fairview! Happy March!
I hope that you were able to make it out to the Winter Warmup at Flavelle Park this month. If not, then hopefully you were able to enjoy our Adopt-A-Rink this season. As we roll into spring (hopefully sooner than later) watch for our upcoming events like the Bottle Drive, Community Cleanup, and of course the Wine and Cheese fundraiser night! We have confirmed that we will once again be hosting this event on June 7 at Divine Flooring on Fairmont Drive. We are very thankful to have friends like Divine Flooring to support our community and have a good time with us. Watch for more details on our website, social media, and future newsletter. Join our email list to stay up to date on current community updates.
Our Casino is scheduled for May 9 and 10, which requires a small army of volunteers for different tasks. No experience is required, the more complicated jobs will be handled by the seasoned Casino advisors and volunteers. There are both day and night shifts available, with a lot of position options and again… no experience needed!
You may ask yourself: “Why does Fairview need casinos?” Well, this is how we are able to fund many upgrades, programs, and events in our neighbourhood. This includes the Pump Track at Flint Park, multiple playground upgrades, events like the Fall Family Festival and Movie Night and programs for the 60+ Collective Seniors, equipment the community needs, and so much more! Our Casino dates are Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10, so if you have the day or night off, are retired and looking for something to do, or just want to play hooky from work, please reach out to volunteer, meet your neighbours, and have fun.
Your Fairview Community Association Board of Directors is made up of smart and motivated people who volunteer to keep the events and community responsibilities running. We may be a small community, but we are very active, which requires awesome people to make it work. Currently we are looking for a volunteer board member to manage our communications and social media, amongst other roles.
You don’t have to join the FCA Board to be part of the community and help, so don’t be shy, come say hi!
I look forward to seeing you
Wayne McNeely
Vice-President
