The school season is upon us, and the BAS and Kindergarten programs are in full swing. We are very excited to welcome all the kids back to MLCA. We are looking forward to a fun year of learning and growing together! Our programs are currently full; however, we do recommend you call MLCA to have your child put on the waitlist. Pickleball season is back. We welcome all levels of skill. Guests will play in the gym on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. The cost is $50 for ten plays. Purchase your game card and once all ten games are stamped you will get your 11th game for free! Please visit the office before play to purchase your game card today!
If you’re a parent and looking to socialize with other parents in your community, our Mom and Tots program might be right for you. Visit MLCA Thursday mornings from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Enjoy a coffee or tea while the kids take over the gym playing games and other activities supplied by MLCA. Our drop-in fee is only $5.
Mark your calendar and join us for the McKenzie Frenzie on September 7! The Frenzie starts at 11:00 am and goes until 11:00 pm! Twelve hours of high energy fun and entertainment is planned for the whole family! We are busy working on an extensive all day band lineup for the main stage as well as offering a ton of activities and games for your family to enjoy during the “family friendly” portion of the day. Be sure to visit the marketplace showcasing local artisans from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm in the gym. There will be games, a petting zoo, bouncy houses, and a bunch of other activities for kids all day long in the fun zone from 11:00 am to about 4:00 pm.
The adult party portion then takes the lead until 11:00 pm. We will be serving up cold drinks at the cash bar and food will be available for purchase. A super good time and great live music is on the menu so be sure to get a babysitter and join us for the Frenzie “After Party”!
The parties just don’t stop! Halloween is just over a month away and we are ready to host the Halloween Howler on October 7. This party is super fun, and it always sells out. This event will be split into two time frames. Be sure to visit mckenzielakecommunity.com to purchase tickets for the first party from 4:00 to 6:00 pm or the later party from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. They go fast so don’t wait until it’s too late, get your tickets now!
It’s too soon to hear Santa’s sleigh bells but know the Elves at MLCA are already planning the Kids’ Christmas Party slated for December 7. Santa will be there with gifts and a whole lot of fun will be had for sure. Come celebrate the Christmas spirit with MLCA. Due to popularity, this event is split into two time frames as well. Purchase your tickets for the earlier portion from 4:00 to 6:00 pm or for the later party from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. MLCA memberships are an effortless way to support your local community centre’s programs and events. Owning a membership also allows you to have a voice at our AGM on what happens in and around your community centre. It’s easy to buy a membership online at www.mckenzielakecommunity.com or visit our office anytime to buy yours now. An MLCA membership is only $25 and is valid for an entire year! You will enjoy perks such as discounted rates for the whole family on kids’ programs and social events, as well as reduced ticket prices on Adult Nights and market vendor table rentals. We will be working with local businesses to offer special member discounts too. Membership money also raises much-needed funding to help keep your community centre facility and equipment up-to-date and safe for all to enjoy. So, walk or ride over to the office to speak with our staff about purchasing your membership now so you can start saving on our lineup of programs and events for the 2024/2025 season.
Want to meet new friends and help your MLCA? Why not donate some time at any or all of our events? It’s fun and you are guaranteed to meet new people in your community. If this sounds like something you want to be involved in, we want to hear from you! It takes a small village to host events at this caliber. If you’re new to McKenzie Lake or feeling disconnected in some way, why not volunteer with us?! We have lots of positions to fit your skill set while making yourself some new friends. So don’t be shy! Ages 16+ welcome. Pick up that phone and call us at 403-257-1823 or drop by the MLCA office to get your name added to our volunteer list. We are so excited to meet you!
