Welcome April! Welcome Spring! Mid- Sun seniors are a vibrant group of diverse people who gather together to socialize and enjoy what each day brings. With the support and guidance of the Mid-Sun Community Association Board and the assistance of the MSCC office staff and facility operator, a small committee of senior volunteers organize and plan events that local 55+ residents attend. In 2025, we have expanded weekly card and games events to two sessions in order to accommodate growing numbers. Evening Bingo games returned to the delight of enthusiastic players. Members gather monthly to enjoy a meal in a local pub or restaurant and meet occasionally to share a potluck meal. In February, the weather co-operated to provide a mild day for an annual, well-attended wiener roast. During each event, the atmosphere created provided an accepting, welcoming space.
As the year continues, the committee is working to offer potlucks, celebrate special days, invite speakers to share knowledge on topics of interest to seniors, plan picnics at the community lakes, and explore other outings and events. The Mid-Sun Seniors are proud to support Calgary Food Banks. We have a donation box available each Thursday for members to contribute non-perishable items. During the November 14, 2024, to February 27, 2025, time period, our card group donated 489 items, weighing 508 lbs., and added a generous cash donation to the Hope Mission for Calgary families. We are currently collecting food items for the Calgary Veterans. Well done, seniors!

Cards and Games at MSCC
Thursday, April 3, 10, 17, and 24, 10:00 am to Noon or 1:30 to 3:30 pm
We play a variety of games at all levels from beginner (we teach) to expert. Coffee, tea, and snacks provided at no charge. After an initial “check-us-out session”, participants will be required to hold a MSCA membership.
Bingo at MSCC
Monday, April 14, 6:30 to 8:30 pm
This is a cash only event. Cards are available at $5 for a pack of ten cards. Ten games will be called with cash prizes. A small cash concession will be available. Registration and MSCA membership required.
Pub Nite at Swiss Chalet (265 Shawville Blvd SE)
Tuesday, April 29, 5:00 pm to approximately 7:00 pm
We have reserved this space for our group. Each person is responsible for their own bill plus a standard large group 18% tip. The menu is varied. If you plan to attend, please register at [email protected].
