Mid-Sun Social Seniors’ Card Group
As the days in March lengthen and the increased minutes of daylight joyfully remind us that the Spring Equinox is approaching, many of us take time to look forward and plan, as well as recall the past year’s exciting Christmas dinner, potlucks, outings, picnics at the lake, bingos, and more. We hope that you, as a senior 55+, are able to learn about and plan to join some of the activities that Mid-Sun Seniors’ offer.
March Activities
Weekly Cards and Games: Thursday, March 5, 12, 19, 26
We hold two sessions: 10:00 am to 12:00 noon or 1:30 to 3:30 pm.
Tables of four or six players are set up for attendees to enjoy a variety of card games, interspersed with chat and laughter. If you are not familiar with a game and are interested in learning, we willingly and patiently teach with no pressure. We also delight in learning games that newcomers bring. Coffee, tea, and snacks are provided by the organizing committee and often by those who attend. Delicious!
Supporting Our Community: Members who wish to voluntarily support Calgary Veterans Food Bank contribute non-perishable food items and/or cash donations. We have boxes available every week. We also accept donations of pet food and animal care supplies for AARCS animal rescue. Thank you to our strong group of supporters. Your generosity is appreciated.
Pub Lunch Buffet: Wednesday, March 18, 11:30 am to approximately 1:30 pm.
Taste of Himalaya (38-240 Midpark Way SE, – north side of the mall near Planet Fitness Gym). Please register and join us for the delicious Indian and Nepalese cuisine buffet. Each participant is responsible for their own transportation, cost of meal, and tip. Register by emailing [email protected].
Bingo: Monday, March 30, 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Mid-Sun Community Centre.
MSCA members, 55+, enjoy playing ten varied games with cash prizes. Coffee and tea are provided at no charge. A small cash concession is available for chips, candy bars, and cookies. Spaces are limited so registration is required. Bingo cards are purchased at time of registration. A pack of ten cards, one card for each game, is $5. You may purchase more than one pack if you enjoy keeping your eyes and fingers busy locating the numbers called. Please contact us for the registration link.
Save the Date: Friday, April 17, 5:30 to 9:00 pm. Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre at Mid-Sun Community Centre. Buffet and theatre performance for seniors 55+. Watch for details and registration information.
We welcome new members to our group and activities. MSCA Membership is required for most activities, except Pub Lunches and Pub Nite.
