Last year we were talking about using some common sense and not pushing mounds of snow onto the road to cause build ups. This year we have a bylaw that says just that, you can face penalties of up to $250 if you shovel snow from a driveway or private walkway into a road, bike lane, or pedestrian pathway.
Yet it is not the bylaw that should be on your mind while shoveling snow, it is the safety and the ease of driving that should be prioritized. Let’s think about the big picture and keep our roads clean and safe for all of us. Pile up the snow on your lawn! This way you give the grass extra protection in the winter and extra water in the spring. Try to clean as much snow as you can from the road and save the headaches with ice dams and huge puddles in the spring.
Thanks for keeping everyone safe.
