Parkland’s annual Winterfest celebration was a great success! And the weather Gods were smiling on us! We had tons of activities for the kids; face painters, horse and sleigh rides, outdoor games, a petting zoo, crafts, hot chocolate, and a food truck; the Dog Father. These kinds of events cannot happen without those who step forward.
First, thank you to organizers Lana Bedard and Mary Simon Johnston of Jamie Newton and Associates. Next, thank you to our volunteers who helped during the event; Corey, Claire and Noah Johnston, Jennifer Rocker and Liam Crosby, Eren Garman, Lisa, Jay, Gianna, Jacelyn Gallant and Blake Robinson, who helped with all the heavy lifting work, and Erika Diaz, who was on hand for cleanup and set up. Thank you also to The City of Calgary who brought team leaders to play games with the kids and posted signs regarding the event. Also, Parkland Cares had a box onsite to collect donations for the food bank.
Last, thank you to Fish Creek MLA Myles McDougall who donated prizes and jellybeans for the ‘guess how many jellybeans are in the jar’ competition and lots of cookies and hot chocolate which were readily devoured!
Make it a date next year, Winterfest will be in February at the hall. Hope to see you there!
