Willow Ridge’s July President’s Message

I have probably heard the same question 100 times in the past few weeks:“when will the building be ready?” I am definitely not tired of answering “hopefully soon,” as each time the question is raised, it means someone is interested in our community. The building will hopefully continue to generate interest, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of community in our neighborhood.

When one thinks of community, the spirit of volunteerism and selfless commitment for the good of one’s neighbors is what I enjoy and appreciate. Elsewhere in this newsletter you will read about the great support that Home Depot is providing to our community garden.

What you might not be aware of is the support that the owners of the Willow Park Village shopping complex have given to our community association since last August. Thanks to the generosity of Western Securities (the O’Connor family) and the help of Ken Acheson and Kennington Properties (the property managers), our staff was able to use some of their available space for the past 10 months to keep our community association running. Words alone cannot express the thanks that we owe to such great community partners, so please think about Willow Park Village on you next shopping outing!

In keeping with the theme of “thank you,” on behalf of the WRCA Board I would like to thank Karon Eckel, one half our of friendly WRCA “front line” staff, for her positive attitude, hard work, and dedication to your community over the past 6 years. Karon was part of our admin staff since 2013, and her feedback and contributions to the design of our community facility were much appreciated over the past several months. We, of course, hope to continue to see Karon out-and-about in Willow Ridge for many years to come!

Once again, if you are ever interested in getting more involved than simply asking questions, we have, and will continue to have, plenty of opportunities for you to enjoy and contribute to the sense of community that we are trying to build and maintain. Our doors will soon be open to welcome you!
