Happy springtime!

I certainly hope that spring has sprung by the time you are reading this. It is still a chilly, snowy March Friday as I write my updates and news. So, with an optimistic outlook for the pleasant weather coming our way I will share some important updates.

Community Cleanup Day 2023! Canyon Meadows Community will be holding our annual cleanup day on Saturday, July 22 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. I am disappointed that we were unsuccessful in our request for a spring cleanup, but grateful that CMCA was awarded a date from the City of Calgary as many communities did not get a cleanup this year. I am currently working on booking the recycling vendors and services that CMCA usually has on-site for this event. More information will be provided in the coming months. Please mark your calendars and start getting your unwanted stuff ready to go.

With the warmer weather coming, the gardeners in our neighbourhood will be happy to hear that CMCA is once again taking part in the Big Yellow Bag – Give & Grow Fundraiser this season. Last year, our community association received $90 from this initiative. I hope to earn more than that this year, and you can help us get there. For every ‘Big Yellow Bag’ of dirt or mulch that is ordered using our unique code – CMCA23, we will receive a $10 donation; plus, the customer receives 5% off the price of the ‘Big Yellow Bag’. You do not have to live in Canyon Meadows to use our unique code (CMCA23), so please share this with friends and family that you know order those ‘Big Yellow Bags’.

The Seniors’ Coffee Time is still going strong at the community centre every second Wednesday. This free get together is a drop in style event that runs from 10:30 to 11:30 am in the Lloyd Hand Hall. Coffee is provided by the community association and the treats are graciously donated by Stan and Heather from the Canyon Meadows Bakery. Mark your calendar and join us on April 5 and 19, May 3, 17, and 31, and June 14 and 28.

The next Volunteer Appreciation Event is scheduled for Friday, April 28 at the Lloyd Hand Hall. If you were one of the many volunteers that donated some of your valuable free time over the last year, you should have your invite already. If you volunteered for the community during the last year and have not received an invite, please contact Bonnie in the office.

Until next month…
