Happy April!

As I write this message in mid March, we are still seeing the last bits of winter on this frigid day. However, the days are getting longer and sunnier. By the time you will read this message, it will already be spring! I am sure the snow is long on its way to melting and the days are much warmer.

Springtime brings lots of changes in the CKE community. Most notably, the outdoor rinks in our community will be on their last legs or already melted at this point, and we can start looking forward to springtime activities. Spring opens up our amazing facilities in the community that include our fantastic pickleball/tennis courts, various parks, and our Hall.

I wanted to remind everyone about our “Special General Meeting to approve amendments to CKE Bylaws” which will be on April 20, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at the CKE Hall. In conjunction with the 2022 update to the Bylaws, the Board also reviewed and made minor adjustments to the Policies and Procedures of the Board that were originally created in 2003 to supplement the Bylaws by enhancing governance processes of the Board of Directors for matters within the authority of the Board.

Jim McLean has been instrumental in updating these Bylaws. He has spent a lot of time perfecting these and making sure that they are current and applicable with the Board. Thank you so much Jim for your hard work on this.

In light of National Volunteer Week which runs April 24 to 30, I want to take some time to acknowledge people in our community that have volunteered time out of their daily schedules to give back to the CKE Community in various ways. On behalf of the CKE board and myself, I want to say thank you for contributing to the CKE Community:

The Rink Rats, Wendy Kennelly, Bob and Colleen Matthews, Christina Arnold, Jane Howe, Lindsey Stein, Lana Barrett, Sue Schaepsmeyer, Riley Lindquist, and Tim Olafson.

I apologize if I have missed anyone but to anyone I have missed, thank you as well.

Are you looking to contribute to the CKE community and volunteer your efforts? Joining the board is a great way to do so. We currently have two rare openings on the board that will allow you to collaborate with some great people and help make the CKE better for all. The positions are for Social Director and Secretary. If these are roles that interests you, please email us at [email protected].

Also, a reminder that our CKE Community Hall is a fabulous place to host events! It can accommodate corporate events, birthday parties, weddings, anniversaries, social events and more! It is available for rent on an hourly or daily rate, so please get in touch with Jen at [email protected] if this interests you.

Here are some things to do around the city this month:
