Hi Neighbours,
Welcome back to our new normal! Our students are returning to school programming in new and exciting ways, the leaves are beginning to turn, and our CKE Community Association is getting busier in so many good ways. At the CKE Community Association Hall we’ve put in place rigorous COVID protocols to keep our neighbours safe and well, and it has been lovely to see so many of you taking part in the classes, events and programs that have started back up this fall already. Feeling like trying something new this fall? Be sure to check out what is happening in our gym, event spaces, and fitness studios at https://ckecommunity.com/ to stay up to date.
We’ve got lots going on in the community this September, including a new bottle drive (September 12, 2020) to help take some of those empties off your hands. Our Hall is coming back to life as we welcome many of our community businesses and services back to the facility, and our tennis courts are being resurfaced to make getting out and getting active easier than ever. Thank you to all of our community members who have been working so hard on helping us navigate this strange fall season. A particular thank you to Lois Wride, who has been such an essential part of our community initiatives over the last two decades. She was misnamed as “Louis Ride” in our last newsletter, and without her contributions to the CKE we wouldn’t have the vibrant and caring community we love today.
I look forward to seeing you all at our CKE Community Association AGM on September 23rd, 2020 at 7:00 pm in our Hall. We’ll be hosting it in person and online – stay tuned for more information about a Zoom link coming a few days before the event via email. Not signed up for our email communications? What a great time to start! Just head to ckecommunity.com and sign up today to receive our e-newsletter and community announcements straight to your inbox.
Our big news for September is our membership drive. We’ve got some new plans in place to keep our neighbours safe: we won’t be having canvassers go door to door. Instead, please go to ckecommunity.com/membership to purchase your CKE Community Association membership today. Still want to use the paper form? Feel free to clip out the one in this newsletter and drop it off in our Hall mailbox at 1015 – 73 Avenue SW (or call Louise at 403-289-2724 to arrange for us to pick up the form from your home). Due to COVID-19 closures and safety measures, our Community Association Hall has lost five months of revenue and we’ve had to cancel our key fundraiser for the year. Purchasing a 2020-2021 CKE Community Association membership is more important than ever this fall, and we deeply appreciate those community members who have already done so. Need more incentive? You must be a CKE Community Association Member to vote at our upcoming AGM, so purchase a membership today and make your voice heard about issues that are important to you!
Stay well, stay safe, and stay in touch!
