Connecting Glenbrook

The Glenbrook Community Association is pleased to offer a number of free clubs and activities throughout the month taking place at the Community Hall. If you are interested in trying out one or more of these, please email [email protected] so we can gauge interest, or if you have any questions. Long-term participation in these programs will require purchase of a community membership.

Tai Chi

We have been gathering at the Hall weekly to practice a Qi Gong 18 form modified tai chi exercise program. The program consists of a warm-up, two sets of 18 stand-in-place exercises, and some upper body stretches to cool down with a few spontaneous laughter sessions thrown in. Combine this with some socialization and it makes for a fun time. We will meet on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am. Come out and give it a try.

Book Club

For April, we have chosen the award-winning Bel Canto by Ann Patchett, a familiar author for us. For May, we will read Watch Us Shine by Marisa de los Santos. Join us on Wednesday, April 15 at 1:00 pm upstairs at the hall.

Coffee Social

Join friends and neighbours at the hall for coffee, refreshments, and fellowship. We are planning an accessory swap as the season changes, and possibly a speaker on small pollinator garden plots. You can also find out about other ways to get to know your neighbours for walks, games, hobbies, etc. Meet at the Glenbrook Hall on Friday, April 24 at 10:00 am.

Pickleball

Weather permitting, we hope to start outdoor pickleball this month at the Glenbrook Sport Court. Watch for the walls and nets to go up at the north end of the rink. We usually play on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9:00 to 11:00 am.
