Hello Glenbrook!
April always feels like the month when our neighbourhood starts to shake off winter, and spring breathes new life into the community. More people are out walking or riding their bikes, and you can finally step outside without feeling like you have to constantly brace for snow and cold.
With the arrival of spring comes the ritual of spring cleaning, and we have two upcoming opportunities for you to make your own home and the community at large look a little better. First, we have our annual parks clean up on Saturday, May 2. During this event, volunteers focus on picking up waste in parks that have collected debris over the winter, as well as other common spaces that need a quick refresh. Whether you can join for a short while or stay the entire time, every bit helps. Families, kids, and new residents are all welcome, and pizza will be offered to those who volunteer. We will also be hosting our community clean up, in partnership with the City of Calgary, on Sunday, May 24. This is a great way to get rid of all those items around your house that haven’t made it to the landfill or recycling depot. More information on both of these can be found in the newsletter.
Lastly, I wanted to take a moment to thank all of the volunteers who supported the Community Association during our recent charity casino. These events provide us with access to a crucial revenue stream that is both predictable and significant, which has helped to keep the organization financially stable. Without volunteers to fill these shifts at the casino, we would not be able to access these funds. So, from the bottom of my heart, a big thank you to all of you. Your time is very much acknowledged and appreciated.
All the best,
Kim
