Hello Glenbrook!

I hope everyone had a great summer. September has returned and our hall and community facilities have had a busy couple of months. I look forward to the addition of even more events and opportunities for Glenbrook next year, but the more ideas we come up with, the more help we are going to need.

We are lucky to have a strong board with members who are very dedicated to ensuring that work continues behind the scenes, however, we are always in need of new volunteers to assist us with new and existing events. If you have ever considered volunteering in your community, I encourage you to reach out now. Whatever your interests and skills are, we will find a spot for you that fits in with your schedule.

While you may not necessarily be interested in sitting in on our monthly board meetings, we are developing a list of committed volunteers who are willing to, for example, help out with our barbecues and sports days, teach kids to skate at our winter skating parties, or join us for our casinos, along with many other events and programs that are on the way. If this sounds like you, send a quick email to [email protected] and one of us will get back to you.

Speaking of which, our next community event is coming up on Saturday, September 16 at Glenbrook Hall, where we have invited a number of Calgary food trucks for you to try out. We hope to see you there!

The Glenbrook outdoor sport facility also continues to see plenty of use, and as always, it is free to Glenbrook residents. Our sport court has been a model for other communities throughout the city to offer to their residents. If you have not made it out to try yet, I encourage you to do so this fall before the snow starts to fly. The lights are on in the evenings and the courts are open until 10:00 pm each night. Please remember to be respectful to your neighbours and try to keep the noise down at later hours.

Now that it is September, a reminder that your 2023-24 Glenbrook community membership is due. You can purchase them by mailing the form found in this newsletter and a cheque to us, or at any of our community events.

You can always reach me by email at [email protected] or call/text me at 403-249-6664. Please remember to watch your speed when driving through the neighbourhood as we enjoy the fall weather.

Take care,

Murray, President
