City of Calgary’s Planning Liaison Program: Marda Loop
Communities Chose

The
City of Calgary’s Planning Liaison Program is now underway, and the Federation
of Calgary Communities assisted our community in getting our own planning
liaison.

Throughout
December and January, the Federation of Calgary Communities supported with
delivering surveys to 55 community associations within completed Local Area
Plans, inquiring about the community association’s interest in the Planning
Liaison Program. To date, 39 community associations have expressed interest in
participating in the Planning Liaison Program. Over the past few weeks,
planning liaisons have spoken directly with 30 community associations to better
understand local priorities and their needs. Based on those conversations,
community growth data, and team capacity, a group of 20 community associations
have been identified to begin working more closely with planning liaisons in
the coming weeks.

The
Planning Liaison Program is a pilot program through 2026. Its purpose is to
help strengthen relationships, advance mutual understanding, and improve
communication between community associations and The City on planning and
development matters. Planning liaisons will provide support by sharing
knowledge, improving access to information and expertise, and helping navigate
The City’s Planning and Development Services’ processes.
