The Marc and Mada project passed the Land Use Redesignation (LOC) phase of the project at a public hearing of Calgary City Council on Tuesday July 15, 2025. The next phase is the Calgary Planning Commission review of the development permit. Marda Loop Communities Association submitted a letter based on what we heard from residents and was circulated to all the councillors. The letter is on our website: https://mardaloop.com/community/planning-and-development/.
• Members of the public can still comment on the development permit by going to the development map at https://developmentmap.calgary.ca and search for DP2024-08395.
• Copy us on your comments too at [email protected]. Please send us your questions and concerns on any development matters as well. Our role is to review all the Land Use Redesignations, the development permits, and Subdivision Appeal Board hearings.
Mobility Update from the City of Calgary
Phase two of the 50 Avenue SW Improvements project is being deferred to the 2026 construction season. This phase includes a new signal light at 20 Street SW, extending the multiuse pathway along the southside of 50 Avenue from 19 Street to connect with the existing pathway at 22 Street and replacing the pavement on 50 Avenue between Crowchild Trail and 14a Street.
By deferring work from later this summer to spring 2026, we will avoid construction extending over two seasons. It will also allow us more time to consult with area residents and businesses, minimize impacts on the community, and coordinate further with projects already underway in the area.
We anticipate installing the new signal in early 2026, with the remaining construction getting underway in early May 2026. We will provide a more detailed schedule ahead of construction in early 2026.
