Seniors at “The Edward” Take Their Roof Garden Seriously
On one of my visits to “the Edward”, Lore Ahlstrom, a resident who also happens to be an active member of the MLCA Seniors in the Loop impressed me with a gardening initiative that she is involved in together with some of her fellow residents. With support and encouragement from the management, they formed a committee of keen gardeners and planted a roof garden atop their building. They tend regularly to the beds which produce an amazing array of flowers which adorn areas in the building and even produce some of the vegetables that are served at their supper tables.
According to Danielle Girodat, Community Relations Coordinator at “the Edward”, this industrious group of gardeners are “Green thumbs and great company! These garden committee residents enjoy the fruits of their labour while tending to their beautiful rooftop oasis”.
Thank you, Edward Gardeners, for sharing your pictures with us and congratulations on the amazing job you do!
