Notice the white boxes in public places around Marda Loop? Those were from the City asking for engagement on the future growth of our area. City Council passed the West Elbow Communities Local Area Plan in May 2025, and it includes all of Marda Loop’s communities. The plan sets out the growth plans for the community and is the basis for development permits and land use redesignations (LOCs). To quote the West Elbow Plan engagement website, “West Elbow Communities Local Area Plan sets out a strategic framework to guide future development as the communities evolve over timeâ€- https://www.calgary.ca/planning/local-area/completed-plans/west-elbow-communities.html.
When a Land Use Redesignation goes to a public hearing, anyone is welcome to participate and speak to City Council. There will be one on March 23, 2026, to discuss repealing the blanket rezoning for the City. https://www.calgary.ca/council/meetings/agenda-minutes.html#agendas.
