Community Vitalization – Historic Signal Box Program (City of Calgary)

Through her role with the City of Calgary, our Director at Large Kate Zago was directly involved with the Historic Signal Box Program. The Historic Signal Box program was launched in 2013, with the intent to support community spirit and celebrate the unique history of Centre City communities. Selected signal boxes are wrapped with one or two large historic images of the actual intersection, nearby landmark or general historic theme, and include a short interpretive text panel describing the image. Currently, over 25 signal boxes are wrapped with historic photos in the Centre City. The historic interpretive panels dotted throughout the streets of the Centre City remind us of the history amongst us.
