Genevieve Phillips is an improvisational jazz, blues, and jazzy pop singer. A musical explorer, a lover of unique arrangements, original pieces, and collaborations. She found she had a natural improvisational talent and a burning desire to add a jazzy take on a modern tune or two. She can be found collaborating with other awesome musicians around town any chance she can get.
Opening the Cliff Bungalow jazz series this year is an exciting opportunity to unite again with one of her favourite pianists, Andrea Petrity, and work for the first time with the incomparable Darcy Stamp on violin. Her regular cadre of awesome musicians, who also like to take risks and explore new musical experiences, consists of the fantastically creative Stefano Valdo on bass, the mellifluous Peter Strietman on guitar, and the man who understands the beat of your heart, John McNeil on drums and percussion.
The program will explore pieces by other musicians from various genres, including jazz.
