There’s lots going on at the community association!
Neighbour Day, June 15. We’re planning a family-friendly celebration on June 15 to celebrate Neighbour Day. All ages are welcome to enjoy food trucks, games, face painting, open gym time, and more! Stay tuned for details.
Community Cleanup, Sunday, June 23. Sponsored by the City of Calgary, this recycling event provides various services at no charge, including yard waste collection, electronics recycling, a donation/swap table for household goods, and large bins for household recycling and trash.
Gymnasium Renovation Project. Over the summer months, the community centre gymnasium will undergo a major building envelope upgrade. The exterior cladding will be replaced, and insulation added. This project was identified as a priority in the building’s lifecycle report provided by the City of Calgary and is made possible by a municipal Capital Conservation Grant, a provincial Community Facility Enhancement Program grant, and money raised through our last fundraising casino. Although we are disappointed to close the gym for a few months, the renovation will result in energy cost savings for the association and a more comfortable environment for anyone using the space.
Community Redevelopment. Redevelopment applications tend to increase over the spring months. The community association’s Planning and Redevelopment Committee (PARC) continues to be active in responding to development applications, representing the community association on the City’s West Elbow Communities Local Plan, and advocating for North Glenmore Park residents in the City’s plan to implement city-wide rezoning. For individual residents, the most effective way to communicate questions or concerns about a proposed development application or rezoning is by reaching out to the City of Calgary file manager for the application.
Casino. The community association’s next fundraising casino is scheduled for August 14 and 15. We’ll need several volunteers for our most important fundraiser. Please contact us at [email protected] if you can spare some time. A free meal will be provided, and volunteering is a great way to meet your neighbours!
