Many of the City of Calgary’s consultation activities have been put on hold – while other activities are being managed virtually. Our Councillor, Jeromy Farkas, continues to have weekly Town Halls via Facebook. This has enabled us to raise questions about speeding in the community, both on roads and on bike paths, SW rig road plans and start up dates, completion of road construction at 90th Avenue and 14 Street, and finally about lane way housing.
We also continue to collaborate with other adjacent communities on a Multi-community Local Area Plan (LAR) and other items related to Civic Affairs and City Planning. District 32 refers to Oakridge, Palliser, Bayview, Pump Hill (PBPCA), Braeside, Cedarbrae, Woodbine and Woodlands (Woodcreek CA). Woodbine recently sent a notice to the Honourable Whitney Issak regarding constituents concerns about the lack of communication by Alberta Transportation on changes to the SW ring road connectors, and have asked for a meeting in early May. We are attempting to stay informed as the SW ring road and any changes that could impact some Oakridge residents.
The timing of Co-op redevelopment, the Bike Skills Park, and the Quinterra Legacy Park are all being affected by the current COVID-19 emergency, and we continue to try and get updates. As mentioned last month, we are not satisfied with the City’s piecemeal approach to S. Glenmore Park, so we have had our 1st meeting on the S. Glenmore Park and adjacent Natural Areas to try and limit/influence further piecemeal development in the park.
This update was written on April 30, so by early June, things will likely have changed. Hopefully these changes are for the better with the recent phased (1, 2, and 3) COVID-19 restriction relaxation plans.
Stay safe – physically apart – but socially together in these extraordinarily difficult times.
