This year had a slow start with cooler temperatures followed by lots and lots and lots of rain. Great for lettuce growing, but took a skilled hand to get much else until we started to finally see some sun and heat the end of August. If you happen to know a gardener, chances are they tried to give you lettuce at some point this season. We are all optimistic for another warm fall in hopes of giving a chance to those warmer weather crops, like tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash.

Our gardeners have many motivations for renting a plot at the Rosscarrock Community Garden; a peaceful place to visit, growing fresh produce free from chemicals, the community of the other gardeners, learning something new… the list goes on. No matter the motivations behind their involvement, everyone takes pride in the garden. Hopefully you’ve had a chance to walk by the west side of the Rosscarrock Community Hall and you’ve seen for yourself the dedication that has gone into everyone’s plots.

If you are interested in joining the Rosscarrock Community Garden for the 2020 season, email [email protected] to be placed on the list. In the meantime, join the garden workshops throughout the fall, winter, and spring to get tips and tricks for starting your own garden, or to join our community of plant lovers.
