Rutland Park’s Development and Traffic Report for October

I would just like to highlight what has been happening/going on behind the scenes this past month, in no particular order:

  1. The ‘Richmond Green Park Redesign: What We Heard’ report can be found by searching engage.calgary.ca/richmondgreen and clicking on the link near the middle of the screen. The next stage will be park design options, which will be open to public input.
  2. We have been looking into the possibility of a City supported cricket practice cage near the rink. We have confirmed a spot for it near the hockey rink and have asked the City to put us in a queue.
  3. Newer City trees in the neighbourhood have been struggling with this heat, and a number have been lost in the last few years—I have reported our concerns. Thanks Garry M. for drawing our attention to the trees that have been removed in Valour Park—the City will look at tree replacement there either at the end of this season or next spring.
  4. Applications have been submitted for several new semi-detached homes on Richmond Road near the Esso station, so hopefully we will see some revitalization there. Dollarama should soon be the new anchor in the Sarcee Plaza Shopping Centre as well. Statesman has made some slight revisions to their application for seniors’ buildings near the inn on Officers’ Garden, so hopefully we will see some construction there in the not-too-distant future.
  5. Just a reminder that the few feet outside your fence along the alley is also your responsibility in terms of mowing/weeds/maintenance. Neighbours with concerns can reach out anonymously to 311 (rather than contacting us).
  6. Our AGM will once again be in November, so please watch for our notice.
  7. We have been offered January 21 and 22, 2023, as casino dates; please watch for our call for volunteers.
  8. Happy fall! Thank you for staying connected.
