Rutland Park’s March Traffic and Development Report

I would just like to highlight what has been happening/going on behind the scenes this past month, in no particular order:

We continue to advocate for the baseball diamonds at Richmond Green. We have met with Councillor Walcott and several other Councillors. Councillor Walcott has indicated that he would be willing to reconsider his position if the information that was being provided by Administration did not support an actual increase to the overall accessible park space. Since Water Resources has laid claim to all of the OWC site, we may not have any accessible park space there once the reservoirs have expanded. We will continue to reach out to various departments raising our concerns and looking for answers to our questions. The other Councillors we have reached out to have agreed to start asking questions as well. We have asked that all spending and marketing of Richmond Green be stopped until such time as some very specific questions have been answered. We will continue to advocate to preserve the baseball diamonds as park space.

Development has started to pick up in Currie with a large project being planned for Normandy Dr and Alexandria Gr. We will likely see more development applications as the spring approaches.

Thank you to all of our rink volunteers for muscling through the freezing cold and warming cycles we have been experiencing. We appreciate your efforts to keep the rink going!

Thank you to everyone who turned up to purchase bags or artwork in support of the RPCA and the SPCA. Shirley would have been thrilled with this tribute.

We are still looking for someone to take over as the VP Infrastructure. Craig Marceau is currently taking on two roles with the Board and would love a hand. He would be happy to transition and support someone in this role.

Please welcome Lola M as our Hall Rental Coordinator. We look forward to working with her.

If you have not already signed up for our email updates, please do so at our website, rutlandparkcommunity.com. The City often gives us very short notice for upcoming events, and this is the quickest way for us to reach you. Please also join us on Facebook at Rutland Park Community Association, and Currie Community. Thank you for your ongoing support.
