Southwood’s June President’s Message

Hello, Southwood!

Welcome to June? I think it’s June, although all the days seem to be blending into one! I do hope that you are all boding well, and that you have been able to enjoy the great weather that has graced us this spring. I’m very thankful for the warmer temperatures and the kids getting outside into the backyard.

June is looking a little different for the Community Association. In June’s past, we have hosted the Rhubarb Fest, the Annual General Meeting, as well as the final board meeting before summer break. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we are unable to move forward with Rhubarb Fest and the Province is allowing for all AGM’s to be held later when gathering restrictions are lifted.

With the AGM in mind, are you interested in joining the Southwood Community Association Board of Directors? I promise, we are a fun group of people that are looking to bring great things to the community. In order for us keep providing the great events, and possibly introducing programs at the community hall, we need a couple of key director positions filled. If you are interested in any of the following, please contact me:

  • Vice President
  • Director of Development
  • Director of Traffic
  • Director of Programs
  • Director at Large

Neighbour Day is scheduled for Saturday, June 20. At the time that I am writing this letter, the gathering restrictions are still in place. The Community Association is working to put something together that can involve the community. Please stay tuned to our Facebook page, Next Door, the community website, and emails to find out more about these future events.

As I mentioned last month, I would like to, again, thank all frontline workers for their dedication to serving their communities throughout this isolation period. I would also like to thank our residents because by keeping our distances we have had restrictions relaxed so we can start getting back to normal. Way to go, everyone!

Thank you and all the best,

Becky
