As we embark on a new year, we are all hopeful that we can look at the COVID-19 pandemic in the rear-view mirror, and leave it behind as we try and return to a more normal life in 2021.
We do have an extensive plan for 2021, and many ideas for additional initiatives. With our new board members, we have now grown to a total of 14 board members, and the additional resources on our team will help us accelerate our plans. As I write this message, our two ice rink locations, in lower Springbank Hill and in Montreux, are in full operation. And our Montreux location actually consists of two ice surfaces this year, one for general skating, and the second for hockey with end boards installed. As always, we remind everyone to follow the AHS COVID guidelines for social distancing to ensure we can maintain safe operations.
And with the new hockey boards at the Montreux rink, we have embarked on an initiative to offer advertising space on our boards to local businesses for a very reasonable price. This will help us raise revenues for our community association, while helping to promote local businesses. We did post details on our Facebook page and website. If you are interested in more information you can reach out to us at [email protected].
One of our newest board members has initiated a virtual adult yoga program on Zoom in the month of January. This is a free program for our members. Non-members can purchase a membership on our website so that they can participate in this program. Members should have received an email with further details.
We are also in the final phase of planning for the construction of our new community garden at our Springbank Hill Community Park on 26th Avenue SW. Construction should be completed in time for the 2021 growing season, so stay tuned for more details.
We look forward to serving the entire community in 2021, and providing new benefits for members, like the yoga program, as we continue to grow our team of volunteers and develop our capability to deliver these new programs. Stay safe and healthy, and enjoy a prosperous new year.
