March feels like one of those milestone moments for our community. As residents, it’s incredible to look around and realize that we’ve now spent 45 years standing strong and united as the SCA. To our founders, our past and present boards, and the countless volunteers who have shaped our journey, thank you.

What began as a single growing neighbourhood has since expanded into three vibrant communities, now home to more than 6,125 households, and has evolved into a place filled with memories. It’s where children have grown up, families have put down roots, and neighbours have become lifelong friends.

That spirit of connection that sense of togetherness is still what defines us 45 years later, and it continues to be the heart of the SCA.

We’re pleased to share that the final phase of our structural repairs has been completed. This work has been a major undertaking, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we invested in the long-term safety and sustainability of our facilities. These improvements ensure that our spaces remain safe, functional, and ready to serve the community for decades to come. You will notice the columns have been wrapped in a white powder coded unified cladding that is sleek and consistent around the building.

Our focus now turns to the next phase of capital investment. Most notably, the roof replacement project is slated for completion this year, pending final grant approvals. This is one of the largest infrastructure projects we’ve taken on, and securing funding support will allow us to complete the work responsibly while protecting community resources.

We remain optimistic and will keep residents informed as funding decisions progress.

March also brings a calendar full of opportunities to connect we encourage you to visit our redesigned website at https://scacalgary.ca/events to learn more and register for one of our events hosted at the SCA. These events are a great way to meet neighbours, support local initiatives, and continue building the strong sense of belonging we’re known for.

As we celebrate 45 years of serving the community, we’re reminded that our strength has always come from unity, neighbours supporting neighbours, volunteers stepping forward, and residents taking pride in where they live and play.

Lastly, if you have a community story to share or would like to hear more from the board, we would love to connect with you. You can reach us anytime at [email protected].

As a friendly reminder, the SCA is still seeking community input for the design of a new mural in the front lobby. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our shared memories, celebrate our history, and highlight what makes the SCA such an important part of our community.

Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping shape the next chapter of our community’s story.
