Dear Neighbours,

As the leaves start to change and the refreshing autumn air arrives, our community embraces a unique charm. Fall in SCA is not merely about the drop in temperature, it’s about uniting, honouring traditions, and getting ready for a warm festive season ahead and settling day-to-day routines.

The autumn season is truly a time for connection. From kids selecting costumes for Halloween to families coming together for Thanksgiving feasts, this time of year unites us. We invite everyone to decorate, get involved, and infuse our neighbourhood with seasonal cheer in any way possible. Whether it’s distributing candy, organizing a pumpkin carving contest, or sharing a cozy meal with loved ones, let’s ensure this fall is unforgettable.

This past summer was a productive one for our community association. You may have noticed activity in the area, the SCA managed to complete some very important safety projects.

• Structural repairs to the columns of the building on the lower level, main entrance and north side – this ensures our facilities remain safe and welcoming for years to come.

• Pothole repairs in the parking lot – improving safety and access for all visitors.

We are excited to share that the SCA has revamped our website to better reflect our vision for the community and, more importantly, to enhance user-friendliness. This marks a significant advancement as we progress in the digital age of technology. Our commitment to innovation and improving our site will remain strong to ensure an optimal user experience. We invite you to explore our fresh design at www.scacalgary.ca and share your thoughts with us!

Our community thrives on the passion and dedication of residents who step up to help. Right now, we have two important opportunities where your skills could make a real difference:

• Board Secretary (Volunteer Role): We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized resident to join the Board as Secretary. This role is vital for keeping records, supporting Board meetings, and helping guide our community’s future.

• Marketing and Communications Specialist (Paid Role): The Community Association is hiring a Marketing and Communications Specialist. This individual will help us share updates, promote programs, and connect with our residents in a new way.

If you or someone you know is interested, please reach out to the us for more details at [email protected].

Fun Fact About Aspen Woods

The areas that currently define Aspen Woods were incorporated into the City of Calgary in 1956. Prior to its development, this region was characterized by rural farmland and open prairies, but its name pays tribute to the groves of aspen trees that once flourished across the area. It officially transformed into a residential neighbourhood in 2001, with a master plan focused on spacious estate lots and a design that caters to families. As you navigate through Aspen, you’ll observe the broader streets, which were purposefully designed to foster a more open suburban atmosphere while supporting larger lots and a family-centric layout.

As we look forward to Halloween fun and Thanksgiving gatherings, let’s continue to support one another and celebrate what makes our community unique in a safe and inclusive way. Together, we’ve accomplished so much this year—and with your involvement, the best is yet to come.
