As the golden tones of September softly make their entrance, a refreshing chill fills the air bringing with it a blend of new beginnings and the warmth of familiarity. This is the season when we instinctively begin to ease off from the summer’s hustle, taking time to reflect on what truly matters, and embracing the simple pleasures of our daily routines as our children head back to school and routines set in.
At the SCA, we hold the belief that a vibrant community is not solely defined by its buildings or green space, but by the relationships we foster with one another. It’s found in the cheerful greetings exchanged between neighbours during morning or evening strolls, the shared laughter at community gatherings, and the small yet impactful acts of kindness that often go unnoticed but truly make a difference.
Our communities boast a wealth of diversity, brimming with vitality, and are made up of individuals who truly care, be it parents enthusiastically supporting their children at local soccer games, seniors who have lovingly nurtured these streets for countless years, or a new family uncovering their place and bringing revitalized energy into our neighbourhood. No matter what your background, you are a vital component of what makes our communities an extraordinary place to call home.
This month, we’re challenging every neighbour to step up and make a difference “Small Actions, Big Impacts”.
Attend a community event, lend a hand as a community volunteer, or even just spark a conversation with someone new on your street you have not met yet. Small actions like these are the threads that sew a stronger, more connected community. One greeting, one handshake, and one act of kindness at a time.

Did You Know – Community Facts?
Christie Park (Estates), the upscale district within our community, was once home to one of Calgary’s original ski hills! Back in the 1960s and 70s, residents would spend their winters skiing down the very slopes where our beautiful homes now stand. Over the decades, as the community blossomed, those rolling hills transformed into the green spaces and scenic pathways we now cherish, perfect for walking, biking, and outdoor play.
