Here’s what some of our units have been up to recently.

The 25th Guides started our year attending a tenting camp. This was a fun and unique experience where the girls learned about first aid and cooked a grilled cheese sandwich on an open campfire.

We’ve also been to Ralph Klein Park where the girls got to do some pond dipping to learn about invertebrates living in the water. We also had some classroom education followed by a nature hike to learn about birds and shrubs in the area.

We went to McMahon stadium to cheer on the Stampeders at the football game, then stayed after to play wide games on the field and slept in tents on the sidelines!

We are bridging with other Girl Guides units to do some residential cabin camping with a Hogwarts theme! Our girls will get exposure to money management, outdoor safety, minor STEM, sportsmanship, mentoring on the girl level and life skills in a fun and creative environment.

We have a bank tour planned in November where our girls will get to learn about money management, savings and a tour through the bank vault!

In December, we will have a semi-formal fancy evening with our moms to celebrate the holiday season before we begin a busy second half of our year!

If you’d like to register your daughter, please visit www.girlguides.ca and use the unit finder to find an open unit in your area. If you cannot find a unit in your neighbourhood, it might be because the unit is full (you can modify the search – try searching “all” units; the default is to show only units with space available). You might want to consider becoming a leader—with more leaders, we can take in more girls. For more info, please email [email protected] for more information.
