Hello Hawkwood!

Welcome to June! I hope you are enjoying the colourful displays in Hawkwood’s flowerpots and flower beds around the community.

We continue to actively recruit to fill vacant volunteer Board positions. This month, I would like to highlight the Treasurer position. Our current Treasurer, Laura, has done a tremendous job of seeing the Hawkwood Community Association through some busy years, managing the financials as well as overseeing and reporting on the inflows and outflows of grant funding we received to build the Hawkwood Community Park. Now that the Park construction is complete, the Treasurer’s role will largely once again be focused on managing the Association’s regular financials. Laura is stepping down from this position to focus more on her young family. On behalf of our Association, I would like to sincerely thank Laura for dedicating her time to this role. The Treasurer’s key roles include preparing monthly financial statements, keeping accurate financial records and bookkeeping, managing vendor payments, and acting as a liaison to external auditors. Laura has kindly offered to be available to bring a new Treasurer up to speed in this role. If you have an interest in financials and are looking to volunteer with a great team, please send me an email at [email protected].

Also reach out to me if you are interested in exploring other available volunteer opportunities, being of service to your community, and meeting great neighbours through volunteering.

To stay up to date on Hawkwood’s happenings, be sure to follow our social media pages on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Nextdoor. Upcoming events to watch for in June and July include a Neighbour Day BBQ, Parade of Garage Sales, and the Hawkwood Community Cleanup.

In gratitude and kindness,

Michele del Valle
