Where did the summer go? In a blink of an eye, we have moved into a new season and the SouthWest Communities Resource Centre (SWCRC) is starting fall with many of our high quality and free programs and services.
Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting is a highly regarded 4-week parenting course that uses an approach aimed at teaching children how to succeed and promotes non-violent communication and positive relationships within the family. The Magic Carpet Ride will run on Tuesday mornings and is a program where parents and children play, sing, and learn together.
Our popular Youth Tutoring Program (ages 12 – 17) will be returning on Wednesday evenings and if you would like more information or are interested in becoming a volunteer tutor, please contact Andrea at [email protected]. Other programs that you will find at the SouthWest Communities Resource Centre will be a 4-week basic computer class, English Language Learners (ELL) Conversation Café for new Canadians, a money management workshop and employment and life skills workshop. Please call 403 238-9222 to make further inquiries about these opportunities.
Finally, if you live in SW Calgary and have children living at home, you can book a time to visit with one of our Social Workers or Family Education Specialists to help you sort through current challenges or help you obtain information on where you can access supports. Our office will help you connect with the right services to support your goals, overcome barriers, and develop new friendships for you and your family move to a place of well-being.
Stop by for a visit and we will show you around. Our Resource Centre is located in the Oakridge Co-Op Shopping Plaza or look for more information on our website www.swcrc.ca. All our programs and services are free to families living in south west Calgary.
