Kincora’s October President’s Message

Hi Kincora,

I hope you aren’t “election-ed” out. It’s been a busy month in Kincora with the Federal and Municipal elections. We’ve had people who are standing up for our community no matter what party or ideal they represent, putting yourself out there is a big commitment and challenge. When it’s not election season, the KCA is your voice to these representatives. Our board however is also looking for some people to come join us. We’ve had two board members step down over the summer and we are looking for new neighbours to come join our group. I’m more than happy to go over the commitments and expectations, please feel free to contact me at my info below.

We hope you had a chance to make it out to our first ever Kincora BBQ on the Labor Day weekend. This was a bit of toned-down version of our annual Stampede Breakfast; however, 300 neighbours came out for the food, petting zoo, bouncy houses, and games. Please note these events can’t happen without our local business partners support and your annual KCA membership. Please ensure to frequent the businesses that support the KCA as they support us.

Two items of information that you may be interested in:

  • For those of us who have been in Kincora for some time we barely notice, but for neighbours who are newer, you may have started to notice an increase in air traffic in our skies. The Calgary Airport is going through some runway renovations, and it’s meant to take three years. We don’t have an exact end date, but because of that, there has been an increase in airplane noise.
  • The KCA and KRA are working together to change the designation of our Kincora Fields. Right now, it is designated as “Future Public School Site”. However, we think that land can be better used immediately as an amenity. Our plan would be a sport court (tennis, pickle ball, basketball, etc.), a spot for our ping pong table, and a future community garden. Our presentation to the committee is after our printing deadline for the October newsletter. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page and the November newsletter for an update!

As always if you have any questions or wish to reach out, I’m more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Get out and enjoy our final Food Truck Rally of 2021 October 14 and come help us put up our skating rink. Info will be on our website.

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Halloween!
