Oakridge Area Upgrade Projects/District 32+

Local concerns? Nothing will change unless the City hears from you. Please use the City of Calgary reporting tool at https://www.calgary.ca/311.html to document any road safety or infrastructure issues. For speeding and other safety issues, please contact the Calgary Police Service at https://www.calgary.ca/cps/traffic/traffic-service-requests.html.

We continue to look at snow and ice removal issues and other seasonal concerns. To allow the benches to remain in the off-leash park, the City requires the OCA to agree to an ‘Optional Amenity Agreement’ which will be discussed at the OCA December Board meeting. District 32+ has their next meeting in January to discuss common issues and the lack of an Area Development Plan (LAP). https://www.calgary.ca/planning/local-area.html.

RioCan Development at Glenmore Landing

The City and RioCan are progressing with consideration of the redevelopment plans for Glenmore Landing. Please refer to recent Oakridge Echo editions for background. The discussion of the sale of adjacent parcels of Park Land (also referred to as berm or surplus lands) will be voted on in Council in January. The ‘Land Use Amendment’ – LOC2023-0130 will then proceed. https://developmentmap.calgary.ca/?find=LOC2023-0130.

There are definitely different views on the facts so if you are interested, look at both the RioCan at https://glenmorelanding.community-developmentinfo.com as well as the website prepared by some concerned residents calling themselves “Communities for Glenmore Landing Preservation” at www.stopthetowers.ca.

Southland Crossing – Co-op Development and Construction Plans

Co-op kindly provided the following update: “The construction plans remain the same with a new food store scheduled for an early 2025 opening with all services remaining open during construction. We are progressing with construction, foundations and underground site servicing is currently underway. Structural steel is expected to arrive in January 2024.” Unfortunately, no update on the residential development was available at this time due to ongoing discussions.
