Friends,

With March comes spring and the spring sitting of the legislature. I look forward to some warmer weather and working on legislation that matters to Albertans. We will announce the provincial budget, designed to help a strongly recovering Alberta economy.

As part of helping our economy, I recently oversaw the new legislation A Better Deal for Consumers and Businesses Act. It supports a level playing field for businesses and improves protections for Albertans making big purchases like buying or repairing a car, buying concert tickets, taking out a loan or getting medical care for their pets. It does things such as: put fans first by helping prevent ticket fraud and gouging; introduces strong rules for buying a car and standards for car repairs; better protects borrowers against high-cost credit; supports pet owners in finding quality care by requiring fee disclosure; creates a Consumer Bill of Rights to let Albertans know their rights. We want a marketplace that’s fair for buyers and sellers. That creates consumer confidence—and that’s good for business.

In February I had a wonderful time celebrating the Lunar New Year and the beginning of the Year of the Dog with constituents at events throughout the city. I would like to wish everyone a prosperous new year.

Looking forward to March, the University Heights Community Association is hosting a potluck on March 11th 5-7pm at 2115 Urbana Rd NW. It is sure to be a delicious affair for all who attend! University Heights also held its AGM on February 22, and it was great to see so many people out for the meeting.

Our office serves all the people of Varsity, Dalhousie, Brentwood, Banff Trail, University Heights, Montgomery, and Charleswood.
