Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, Ward 14!

A record number of Canadians have used food banks this year. That is according to a study by Food Banks Canada. In March there were nearly 1.5 million visits to Canadian Food Banks—the highest March usage in history. These are some very startling facts, but the fact of the matter is that food banks need some support.

Now I do not care how you get your donation to the Calgary Food Bank (the point is to help however you can), but some of my Council colleagues and I have created a friendly competition to spark motivation, and I can be a competitive guy. From December 1 to 11, we are going to see which Ward can raise the most for the Calgary Food Bank. Both non-perishable and financial contributions will be accepted. If you can help, or know some people who can, please visit calgary.ca/ward14 for details and share this message. Together, we will help our neighbours in need and show just how generous southeast Calgary can be.

Feel free to contact me any time and remember to visit calgary.ca/ward14newsletter for the full version of this column. It will include information on snow route parking bans and how to keep your pipes from freezing, along with more details about our Food Bank campaign. The best way to contact me is by visiting calgary.ca/contactward14 or calling 403-268-1653.
