In a recent edition of Renfrew Reflections, we reported on heritage in Renfrew, specifically as it relates to the Windshield Survey, Heritage Guideline Areas and Heritage Guidelines as outlined in the North Hill Community Local Area Plan.
In an effort to continue generating heritage awareness in Renfrew, we are advising that a “Demystifying Heritage” workshop will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at the Crescent Heights Community Association at 1101-2 Street NW. Crescent Heights has kindly extended an invitation to citizens of Renfrew to participate in this workshop.
Information about the process of including your property on the Inventory of Evaluated Historic Resources will be provided at this workshop, which is the first step toward obtaining legal designation of a property. It also covers the process of municipal legal designation which prevents demolition of the building and outlines incentives and grants available to assist in restoration, rehabilitation, or preservation of the property. The workshop is free of charge, but we do ask that you register with Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/863916897697?aff=oddtdtcreator.
Please feel free to sign up if you are interested in the process of designating your home or if you are just interested in finding out more on this heritage topic.
