Due to quarantine and self-solation, the Banff Trail Community Association has been very busy! On March 12, the BTCA discussed the Banff Trail Business Plan. This allows members of the BTCA to get together and discuss ideas that would benefit the Banff Trail Community as a whole. Meetings like this in the past have allowed for the Community Gardens to be constructed. It has also allowed for improvements to be made to the ice rink and to our community hall snf helped us create fun events, such as the annual Harvest Festival. A future meeting will be scheduled for the near future. Have any ideas? Your suggestions are welcome!

This year will also be the 65th anniversary of holding our annual Neighbour Day. Neighbour Day represents an opportunity to get together with your neighbours and celebrate Calgary’s strong community spirit. This year our Banff Trail Neighbour Day has been scheduled for Saturday, June 20th. This is a free event. Please check our bulletin boards and online for details.

Do you have a Banff Trail Community Membership? At the 2018 AGM, your BTCA voted to set memberships to zero dollars. Yes, free. To get a membership, email [email protected] with your name, contact information, and let us know if you live within the Banff Trail neighbourhood. Memberships run from March to February and do not automatically renew. Please email to renew your membership for another year. For those interested in becoming a member for the first time, welcome!

The Banff Trail Casino is just around the corner. This year, we have booked this fun-filled fundraiser on June 21 (Sunday) and June 22 (Monday) at Cowboys Casino in the Stampede Corral Area, 421 12 Avenue SW near the Victoria Park Train Station. This fundraising event is critical to our ability to raise funds that go towards extra resources and improvements in our community. This revenue allows Banff Trail to continue to do fantastic things such as our Conversation Club (which is essential for our seniors), kids after-school programs, summer soccer camps, family martial arts classes, maintaining the ice rink, our community gardens, and our events. These funds make a huge impact.

Over these two days, we need almost 40 volunteers to cover different shifts. Volunteers don’t need any experience to volunteer for the Casino. We won’t be dealing cards or managing games, but doing behind-the-scenes work with assistance from advisors who are there to help. You don’t have to live in our community or be a member to volunteer. If not, come join us anyway to play the games, meet new people, and just have fun for a worthy cause. More details in this issue.

If you have anything you’re interested in, don’t hesitate to get involved. Our meetings are always on the first Wednesday of the month from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at our community hall – 2115 20 Avenue NW. Feel free to call 403-282-2234 or just show up. You are more than welcome! The Banff Trail Community Association consists of a pretty awesome group of neighbours who are here to make Banff Trail a great place to be.
