October is a time of Thanksgiving. This time of year, we often reflect on what we are thankful for and express gratitude for the good things in our lives. Some of us grew up going around the table and sharing something we’re thankful for each year. We at the CCA are grateful for the wonderful building that we are able to utilize for events as well as rent out to the public. We are grateful for the board volunteers who spend countless hours planning events, cleaning the hall, updating the website, and more. We are grateful for the solar panels on the roof of our building that help reduce our utilities bill. We are grateful for the volunteers who help at each of our events. This month, take some time to express gratitude to a parent, sibling, friend, or neighbour. You’ll be glad you did!
The CCA has been busy. Our community garden was a great success this year and the City of Calgary paved the parking lot, which will continue to be owned and managed by the City of Calgary. The CCA obtained several sponsors which allowed us to host Movie in the Park in September. We hosted a book sale fundraiser where people purchased a ton of books, and we planned a Food Waste Reduction workshop in conjunction with Green Calgary where we learned a lot about storing fresh food and making the most of leftovers.
Do you know someone who likes to plan events? The CCA is looking for someone to plan our Halloween Kids event in late October. If we don’t find a volunteer, we may have to cancel this event. If you are interested, please email [email protected].
Mark your calendars:
• November 15 and 16: Christmas Craft Market
• December 5: CCA AGM
• December 14: Seniors’ Christmas Dinner
Keep an eye on our website at https://www.citadelca.ab.ca/CCA/ for more information on each event.
Thank you always for your support.
