The Deer Run Community Association is getting ready for the new year, and it’s time to celebrate! The Association was fortunate to receive a CFEP grant (provincial) two years ago for keeping up with upgrades and repairs. Plans at the centre changed and an excess of funds existed, and they don’t really like taking money back; a good problem to have. With the excess, the Deer Run Community Centre was able to revamp our kitchen for the community. Renovations were done to the countertops, drawers, and other accessories inside the kitchen. Everything looks brand new!
With another Enmax grant we were also able to upgrade our two refrigerators, but we won’t be stopping just yet; we have more to come! As renovations continue, we’ll be installing new upper cupboards. Thanks to the updates, our daycare, after-school care, and future renters are now able to use and enjoy the new kitchen and appliances. The DRCA would also like to give a special thanks to Brenda, our communities Director of Ways and Means, and other valued volunteers who facilitated and assisted in our renovations. With their help everything went smoothly, and we couldn’t be happier with the results! We still have excess funds which we need to use up for renovations and repairs – we are still looking for Project Manger types (yes you!) to help with some future projects.
