Douglasdale Maintenance Association – Keeping Our Community Attractive

Good news!

The tax levy will remain at $64.17 for this year. Reminder, this is an annual fee, not monthly.

The “Tax Levy Reaffirmation Vote” was held on March 5 with 96% of attendees voting in favor. This means the DMA will continue for the next five years.

Walkways

Spring is here and it is time to get ready for summer. When you are doing your spring cleanup, and if there is a walkway adjacent to your property, take a few extra minutes and clean the walkway as well. Twigs and branches collect which can be a tripping hazard. The trees in the community are maturing so leaves also collect in these areas along with paper, cans, etc. Talk to your neighbour on the other side of the pathway, make plans to do it together. Tidying these areas will make Douglasdale an even more attractive community.

Yard Debris

Whether doing spring cleanup or yard tidying throughout the year, please dispose of waste responsibly. Use your household recycling bins when possible. Remember, all organic matter such as leaves, twigs, grass, branches, etc. can go into the green cart. Do not dump debris outside of your property, in parks or other public areas.

You Need to Be Our Eyes

Douglasdale covers a large area. There are only five board members, so it is impossible for them to monitor the whole community. If you notice something that needs attention such as an area not being mowed, send an email to [email protected] so the issue can be addressed. Be very specific about the location, provide street names and any other information that could help us easily check what is of concern. Pictures can also be helpful.

Please note that the DMA has no responsibility for trees. The City’s Urban Forest Department maintains them, so if there is an issue with trees, call 3-1-1.

Help Make Our Community Better

We can all play a role in keeping our neighbourhood attractive. When going for a walk, take a garbage bag and pick up that pop can, coffee cup, piece of paper, or other trash that you come across, or pick that weed that is unattractive and could get out of control. Together, we can make a difference and have a community we are proud to live in.

Summer Arrangements

Watch for the summer flowers which will be placed in the containers at the end of May. There will be a change this year; there will be one arrangement for the boulevard and a different one for containers off the boulevard.

Fact: There are 55 planters spread throughout the community.
