The pump track will soon be getting some much-needed TLC in the form of native grass plantings. This new material will replace the mulch that has been in the “islands” in the middle of the track since 2020. The mulch was never a great ground cover for those areas, since it gets tracked onto the asphalt surface and doesn’t do a good job of protecting the edges of the track either.
The City, in partnership with the community association, is going to plant a native grass product called “Nature’s Turf”. This is a drought-resistant grass which should hopefully survive the hot, dry conditions found in the middle of the pump track.
Although exact dates are still unknown at the time of writing, expect the track to close for a number of weeks in May or June so that the newly planted grass can be watered and established without any foot traffic. Please respect the closure while it is underway. We look forward to a better looking, better riding pump track back in action for summer 2024!
