Fall into Fun and Fitness with NBRA Programs!

It’s back to school, back to work and back to routine time, and the Clubhouse is here to help! Registration is now open for a variety of programs for all ages! With our friendly certified instructors, small class sizes, and in a “close to home” setting; programs at the Clubhouse are a wonderful experience from start to finish! All classes run Monday – Thursday in the Clubhouse.

Check out this month`s feature programs!

 Zumbini (0-4yrs) – Wednesday @ 9:30-10:15am

Created by Zumba® and BabyFirst for kids ages 0-4, the Zumbini® program combines music, dance and educational tools for 45 minutes of can’t-stop, won’t-stop bonding, learning, and fun! The registration fee includes the full Zumbini® bundle (2 CDs, each of those containing all the songs done during the session, a book with all the song lyrics, descriptions, pictures etc and a plush toy – one of the main characters of that volume.

 

Cartooning (6-12yrs) – Tuesday @ 7:30-8:30pm

Young Rembrandts’ cartoon classes are based on their original, top quality curriculum with the additional excitement of cartooning. Each lesson teaches children how to create original cartoon characters, draw action, movement and sounds, expressions to convey moods & develop a series of drawings that tell a joke.

 

Family Karate – Wednesdays @ 6:15-7:15pm

Kick, punch, block together as a family! This new program will let the whole family spend some quality time together all while achieving their fitness goals.

Class costs are for 1 adult and 1 child, with extra people being an additional $50.

 

Pound (16+) – Thursdays @ 8-8:45pm

Pound Fitness incorporates drumming with pilates, and easy-to-follow cardio moves. The workout fuses Pilates, isometric movements, plyometric and yoga-based poses into a 45-minute series. Strengthen and sculpt infrequently used muscles, and drum your way to a leaner, toned body, all while rocking out to amazing music.

It’s so easy to register, simply call 403-781-6613, click on our website (listed above) or visit one of our friendly staff members at 2 New Brighton Drive. Programs which do not meet the minimum numbers of registrants will be cancelled, so what are you waiting for?

 

Residents asked, we listened! Starting in the fall many children’s and adult programs will be running at the same time so parents can take advantage of our fantastic adult program while their kids participate in an exciting class of their own!

 

Try before you buy!

The New Brighton Residents Association is excited to offer drop in passes for Clubhouse programs! This is the perfect way to try a different class, squeeze in a quick workout, bring your friend, or have your child experience a new program.

 

Children’s drop-in passes are available for individual classes (pending they fall within the age criteria of the program) at a cost of:

Residents: $12.50/class; Brookfield Residents: $13.50/class; and Non-Residents: $14.50/class

 

Adult drop in passes are available for either individual classes or for a month of unlimited use at a cost of:

Residents: $13/class; Brookfield Residents: $14/class; and Non-Residents: $15/class

Residents: $99/month; Brookfield Residents: $109/month; and Non-Residents: $119/month

 

Love the class? Individual drop in passes can be applied to the cost of the class should the participant wish to continue in the program!

Drop in classes are available for those programs which meet the minimum number of registered participants and are available for purchase “in person” only at the Customer Service desk in the main office. Fall Fun in the NBRA park

It’s Fall again! This means change in the weather, falling of leaves and getting back into your routine, including fun with the New Brighton Park enjoying these last few days of summer!

Gather up your family and friends to enjoy the exhilarating splash park (open until mid-September weather dependant), tennis courts, volleyball court, basketball hoops, ball hockey rink, playground and sandbox!

 

Each household can bring up to 5 guests per visit! If you are bringing guests, please be sure to sign your guests in with the main office upon arrival. If you wish to bring more than 5 guests, that is not a problem; however, you will be required to complete a “Park Guest List.” The “Park Guest List” can be found on our website: www.newbrighton-connect.com or you can pick one up from the office. The NBRA requires all completed forms to be received in the office at least 1 week before your event date for the General Manager approval. Once approved, a “Park Guest List” permits residents to bring between 6-20 people into the park. Each home is permitted to submit up to 3 “Park Guest Lists” per year, so celebrate the change in seasons with us and get the most out of spring!

What a hilarious weekend!

Thank you to everyone who attended the first Comedy in the Clubhouse event held on September 22nd, 2018, we hope enjoyed an evening of humor!

Monster Mash Dance (12-17yrs)

Saturday, October 13th @ 7-10pm

Let’s do the mash; let’s do the monster mash; the monster mash; It will be a graveyard smash.

Grab your costumes and your friends and let’s do the mash, the monster mash!

Tweens and teens ages 12-16 are invited for a spooky evening of dancing and tricks and treats. Entry is free for members (member cards will be required) and $2 for guests so grab your friends and join in for a hauntingly good time. Doors open at 7pm: come for the great music and stay for the prizes!

 

Frighton Up Your Home Contest

Judged, Monday October 29th

The most frightening night of the year is upon us! As the ghouls and goblins get dressed up so do the homes of New Brighton. Terrifying decorations and haunting effects make the community the most frightening in the SE.

Frigthon Up Your Home is back and the NBRA is looking for the spookiest of the spooky!

Prizes will be awarded for:

The Spookiest Home; The Most Haunted House; & The Most Creative Home

Submit a picture of your home including your address and preferred time for the judges to check it out (5pm-6:30pm or 6:30 to 8pm) to [email protected] before the cut off on October 26th, 2018. A map will be created of all the spooky homes in the community and displayed on the Clubhouse’s Facebook page /newbrightonclub for all to see!

Prizes will be awarded to the top placing home in each category.

 

Pumpkin Patch Carving Contest

Judged, Wednesday October 31st, pumpkins are available for pick up on October 15th

The New Brighton pumpkin patch is overflowing with beautiful pumpkins waiting to be carved! Stop by the Clubhouse starting October 15th to grab a pumpkin and create your masterpiece!

Carved pumpkins pictures can be submitted to [email protected] to be entered into the contest! Voting will occur on the NBRA’s Facebook page/newbrightonclub and the winners will be announced on October 31st!

Prizes will be awarded for:

Ages: 0-10; Ages: 11-17; & Ages: 18+

 

Halloween Spooktacular

Wednesday, October 31st @ 5-8pm

Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn and caldron bubble. Visit the Clubhouse this all hallows eve from 5pm to 8pm for a treat, photo and a chuckle.

This event is free of charge for members and their friends; however: space is limited, therefore, RSVP is required on www.newbrighton-connect.com

 

Christmas Market

Saturday, November 17th @ 10am-4pm

Get into the spirit of the holiday season with the NBRA’s Annual Christmas Market and make it a holiday to remember! Local artisans, home based businesses, youth entrepreneurs and crafters will be on site on Saturday, November 17th, from 10am to 3pm. Browse a wide variety of unique items to find the perfect gift for everyone on your list and some treats for yourself too!

Entry for all shoppers is a non-perishable food item to donate to the Calgary Food Bank for those in need.

Make a day of it! Santa may live at the North Pole but he shops in Calgary’s Deep South. Passports for the Deep South Christmas Markets will be available in each participating location and give shoppers the chance to win a gift basket valued at over $1000.

Vendors may register a booth for the event by contacting the Recreation Leader at 403-781-6613 ext 3 or [email protected]. The cost per table is $55 or $70 should you require 2; youth vendors (under 17) cost per table is $10; linens can also be provided at an additional cost of $10. Our tables will be sold on a first come, first serve basis (with only 1 representative per company) starting mid-August 2018.

Financial Literacy Workshop

Saturday October 20th @ 10-11:30am; Res: $2 Brookfield: $3 Non-Res: $4

This workshop covers the basic introduction on different long-term investment plans, introduction to tax free return on the investment options. As well as covering long term savings and tax-free retirement income plans, better options for Tax free RESP and 1-0-1 free consultation. Coffee will be provided

 

Mala Necklace Workshop

Saturday October 20th @ 1-4pm; Res: $55 Brookfield: $65 Non-Res: $70

Join us for a powerful afternoon of presence, intention setting and self care… then weave and infuse your very own handmade mala necklace with it’s powerful energy.

This workshop will include:

-smudging of the space and each participant (if they wish) to clear any negative energies that might be present

-guided meditation to help you uncover your intentions

-demonstration and guidance on how to string the mala together

-gathering with like-minded people

-a beautiful mala made by you to take home

Theater in the Clubhouse

by Quest Theatre

An extravaganza of songs, stories, and games with a light and shadow finale makes this exhibit perfect for little people aged 3 – 7 and their caregivers. This interactive delight is sure to skyrocket little people’s imaginations, rhythm boxes, wonder wheels, giggle nooks, and funny bones.

 

Letters to Santa

November 15th to December 18th: FREE

The NBRA is proud to announce we will be collecting letters to Santa this year! Ensuring every little New Brighton Resident’s letter makes it safely to the North Pole and back. Drop your letters off at the Clubhouse and let Santa know if you have been naughty or nice this year. We guarantee Santa’s response will make it back. Please note the North Pole Express mail service cuts off on December 18th, 2017 so be sure to drop off your letters before!

 

Clubhouse “Value Add” Activities

Storytime

Every 2nd Monday from 10:30-11am: October 12th (Friday) & 22nd

Spend the morning with the Calgary Public Library listening to stories and singing songs that the whole family can enjoy! Great for ages 0-5 years!! The book truck will also be on site during these mornings from 10am – 12pm for borrowing new and exciting books!

 

Mommy & Me Meet Up

Every Wednesday from 9:30-11am, $2 drop in or $55 for the year

Bring your little ones and join a fun morning of socialization and unstructured free play all while parents enjoy coffee, snacks and Great Company! The “Deep South Collation” programs will be on site for the 4th Wednesday of each month, giving focus to sensory movement and development of all attendees!

 

New Brighton’s Seniors Club

Every Thursday from 10:30am- 12:00pm

The NBRA is excited to host the New Brighton Seniors Club, offering a variety of different activities including cards, crafts, games, great conversation and so much more. Spend your time enjoying new activities, meeting new friends, and exploring everything that the NBRA has to offer.

 

Under 18 Club (12-16yrs)

Canvas Creations (18+)

Friday October 12th @ 7pm-9:30pm Res: $30 Brookfield $35 Non-Res: $40

Come for a relaxing evening of creativity! Learn the technique behind different painting styles and get in touch with your inner artist while visiting with friends! Create your masterpiece from start to finish and take it home to show off your new skills. Drinks will be available for the duration of the workshop, with the 1st drink included with the program cost, additional drinks will be sold at a cost of $5 each.

 

Something to Wine About (18+) Octoberfest! Beer Edition

Friday, October 19th @ 7-9pm – Res: $20, Brookfield Res: $25 and Non-Res: $30

The experts from Seton Highlander Wine & Spirits will be on site to educate participants on beers from Octoberfest! Experience 6 different beers, while enjoying some palate cleansing snacks. Participants will discover the history of the breweries used, and Octoberfest. Fee includes samples of 6 different beers. Should you find a new favourite, orders for cases can be made during the workshop to be picked up at Highlander at a later time.

 

Movie in the Clubhouse

Friday October 26th, 7pm -9pm The Adams Family

$5 per family (2 adults & 3 kids)

It’s an exciting evening of family fun! The New Brighton Clubhouse offers a cozy space for the kids to get comfortable with plenty of seating for parents to sit back and relax.

 

RENTAL PARTY PACKAGES

The NBRA is happy to announce our new rental packages! There are a variety of rental packages to fit all ages, party sizes and budget!

 

Essential Birthday Package – Res: $100 / Non-Res: $120

Celebrate your next two-hour Birthday party in the comfort of the NBRA’s mid-sized Studio Room (capacity of 35). The Essential Birthday Package provides you with set-up and teardown of your party, as well as party decorations and supplies (banner, cups, tablecloths, balloons, napkins, plates and cutlery). Make your next birthday party special, the NBRA will do the decorating!!

 

Platinum Birthday Package – Res: $150 / Non-Res: $170

Let the NBRA take the stress out of planning your next Birthday Party with this all-inclusive package! The Platinum Package provides a party host to facilitate one game and one craft for your guests. The NBRA takes the worry out of the planning, designing the room with the included party supplies (banner, cups, tablecloths, balloons, napkins, plates and cutlery). This package provides the renter two hours in the mid-sized Studio Room (capacity of 35) with complementary set up and teardown of your party. All you have to do is bring your own cake, drinks and snacks and we take care of the rest!

 

Paint Party Package – Res: $200 / Non-Res: $230

Need a new idea for your creative family and/or friends? The Paint Party Package is available for all ages and is perfect for any celebration. The NBRA provides a skilled instructor, pre-set painting and the supplies (paint, easels, paintbrushes, aprons, water cups and napkins) to make your next party an effortless success. This package allows 10 people to paint, however, if you wish to include more participants it is a $10 additional charge per person. This package can accommodate up to 20 people total with all the set-up and teardown done for you.

Wedding Package – Res: $900 / Non-Res: $1100

Make the greatest day of your life as simple as possible with the NBRA’s help! The Wedding Package provides you with a full day rental in our spacious Banquet Hall (capacity of 110) and the Board Room for an intimate setting for the bridal party to get ready. Celebrate until late and dance the night away without worry, the NBRA takes care of the security, music license and after-hours clean-up for your special night. Capture your memories with the one hour outside photo opportunity, receive a small gift for the bride & groom and enjoy a wonderful night with friends and family.
