Dog Parade -Thank You!

Thank you to all pet owners who participated in the Dog Parade. We had a great turn out, lots of dressed up dogs, and lots of fun! Special thanks to the event sponsors: ActivateYYC. Caroline Bereznicki – Redline Real Estate Group, Pete the Plumber, Dexter’s Your Local Pet Shop, A & W Restaurant Glendeer Circle, Pet Value Riverbend. Thank you to the special guests: The City’s P.U.P.P.Y. (Pick Up Pooch’s Poo Yourself) program for educating about Responsible Pet Ownership, Barcs Dog Rescue, and Evolve Martial Arts. Last but not least, thank you to Rita Bertwell, Volunteer Event Lead, for organizing all the details of the event starting from securing funding from the ActivateYYC grant and various donations to overseeing all of the other details of the day! Upcoming Events

Mark your calendars as several events are coming up:

Riverbend Fall Fair – Saturday, November 6, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

It is a great opportunity to start your Christmas shopping early, as well as support local businesses. We will also have YYCFoodtrucks coming to ensure no one is hungry!

Annual General Meeting – Tuesday, November 16, 6:45 to 8:30 pm

This year’s meeting will be completely virtual as we would like to safely engage with as many residents as possible. In addition to the standard agenda of reviewing RCA financial statements and appointing directors to the board, we will be sharing results of the Community Engagement Survey that took place in March 2021, as well as prioritizing community beautification ideas and projects.

Annual Kids Christmas Party – Saturday, December 4, 1:00 to 4:00 pm

We are happy to announce that this year’s party will be yet again organized by Riverbend Girl Guides. Stay tuned for more details.

Fall Programs

Thank you to all who registered for our fall fitness programs. Registration for Intermediate Knitting class is still open as the program is not starting until October 19.

Please see the newsletter for program listings, as well as check our website, www.riverbendcommunity.ca, for the most up to date info.

Riverbend All-Season Rink Makeover Project Update

We partnered with Three Peaks Consulting who are coordinating the engineering design for the project. A geotechnical study of the site has been completed and provided important considerations for the engineering team. The City of Calgary Engineering Consulting Program has completed engineering design and specifications for the project.

Sadly, we did not receive the grant funding we were counting on, as the number of applications this year was very high but available funding was decreased. Unfortunately, this means that we will again not have an outdoor rink this winter.

We plan to continue to apply for grants throughout winter months. Once funding is secured, we will be able to start construction shortly afterwards as everything else is ready to go!
