The NDHA would like to extend our best wishes to all of you for a Healthy and Happy New Year 2024! We hope that you were able to enjoy the holiday season with your family and friends, and to get outside to enjoy some winter activities as well!
Our dedicated NDHA board volunteers were very busy over the past year, managing the annual landscaping, maintenance, and other operational obligations to the community. We are using the “off-season” to work on the annual budget and lay the groundwork for projects to be completed this coming spring and summer. Please let us know if you have any thoughts on potential improvements!
Ice Melt Information for Pet Owners – The NDHA would like to remind residents that ULS uses Tillson Brands “Go-Melt” commercial Ice Melter on the pathways under contract with the NDHA. ULS applies salt only when needed; pedestrian safety is the highest priority for the NDHA where snow clearing is concerned. Although “Go-Melt” is considered as pet-friendly, there is no such thing as a truly pet “safe” de-icer on the market for commercial application. After a walk, do not allow pets to lick their paws clean of salt. If they don’t use booties, owners should always rinse and wipe off pet’s feet, including between toes and around the central pad. We have posted more detailed information about the use of ice-melt on our website if this is of interest to you.
On a final “ice-related” note, the NDHA would like to remind residents that although the ULS snow clearing team will be out in full force after each snow event, please be vigilant while walking in the neighbourhood. We make our community paths as safe as possible during the winter months, but Mother Nature gives us all manner of weather and temperatures throughout the winter and ice can form unexpectedly. Ice can also get drifted over by snow, becoming hidden, especially on hills! Use caution when travelling on the pathways and don’t hesitate to contact us if you see an area needing attention. Your annual NDHA fee is essential to provide many services that the City will not, and allows Discovery Ridge to set itself apart from all other communities. Thank you for remitting your fee this year. It has allowed us to continue the essential work of landscape and waterfall operations, maintenance, our seasonal displays, and snow removal in the community. For those who are new to Discovery Ridge, please note that this annual payment is a legal requirement and was due June 29. An interest charge of 18% per annum will be applied effective December 31, 2023, on any remaining unsettled accounts, per the terms of the encumbrance on your title. Invoicing for 2024 will begin in February. If you are unsure of your payment status, please enquire via our website.
