In the last message I shared some highlights of our Annual Meeting. As we return to a more regular schedule for September, I want to address a matter that was raised during that meeting.
Part of the agenda of annual meetings is the discussion of the community’s finances. The year prior the finances were not available for that particular meeting. So, we had two financial reports to present for this year and this was done.
So, we are once again current with how we have reported to the community. Still, our traditional financial reports were for the preceding year rather than the year that ended just prior to the Annual Meeting. There needs to be another adjustment. Our Treasurer, Iffat Ahmad, secured the resolution for the Auditor and then informed the membership that we intend to pass one more set of audited financial statements to bring us to where we should be. This would require a Special Meeting and the adoption of a special Resolution.
Our Membership Director, Kyle Harnett, also brought to the membership’s attention another inconsistency that we have in our bylaws. We have been publishing in this journal a Business Membership rate. According to the bylaws, no such category exists. It is important that we include our business and professional community who work in Rosscarrock.
The Special Meeting would include two components:
- New audited Financials
- Bylaw Adjustment
For you to have adequate time to attend a Special Meeting the Board must give 21 days’ notice of such a meeting. We were intending to call the meeting near the end of August. Our auditor could not meet that deadline.
That means that we could not have the meeting as planned. September will be busy for your community. I hope you were able to enjoy the fantastic weather we had in August and July. Let’s come back to our more regular routine with renewed vigor for Rosscarrock has a lot to accomplish this fall.
